CNC-carved wooden ClubK Logo
When you are out clubbing with your friends, do you ever wish that the night would never end? Wish that you didn't have to worry about how to get back home afterwards? Wish the music, the lights, and all your friends could follow you to your house? Well that is exactly how one of our clients felt. He wanted to have a Vegas style mini-club in his guest-house overlooking the pool. This was exactly the sort of project we knew we wouldn't pass up in a lifetime.
The first feature of this miniature nightclub that immediately grabs your attention is the intricate geometric ceiling, built of over 300 feet of Firefly Floppy Flex LED tape laid into a tiered ceiling. This product is made to replicate the look of neon-signs, and looks INCREDIBLE as effects dance across the entire ceiling. Recessed Gantom RGBW fixtures set throughout the pattern and into the surrounding ceiling provide a colorful glow to the room that shifts and pulses along with the neon pattern.
Club K Ceiling Pattern and Video Wall
Across two of the nightclub walls stretch over twenty five feet of Chauvet Video F3 Panels, creating a screen 2048 pixels wide. This array runs on a NovaStar processor, which in turn is provided content by Avolites Ai. Ai also provides content for the Floppy Flex ceiling, ensuring that the colors throughout the room always compliment one another.

Overall control is provided by an Avolites TitanNet Processor, which controls the Gantom fixture array, as well as several Martin MH10 Beam FX's, Rush Scanner 1 LED's, and Rush Par 3 RGBs. The TNP also controls Ai, dimmer circuits for practical fixtures in the club and patio, and even the breaker panel providing power throughout the club, allowing individual breakers to be turned off remotely once the party is done in the early hours of the morning.

In order for the client to control this unique room of his house, we programmed an intuitive API integration to the TNP, allowing a tablet to access the lighting system as a touch-screen controller. From here, one can pull up pre-set color pallets, as well as activate playbacks containing pre-programmed shows containing synchronized video wall and ceiling pattern content, together with complimentary moving-light effects and eye-candy.
In total, there are well over one thousand pixels of control throughout the ceiling of this mini-club, over twenty five feet of video wall, and an almost unthinkable amount of cables for such a small room hidden away within the walls and ceiling. The overall look is incredible, and we couldn't be more proud of the results of this project!

These machines require NO DRY ICE, only tap water and any water-based low-lying fog fluid. This machine can run for up to 2 hours with its built-in timer without refilling the water reservoir. There is an additional secondary chamber that can hold about one pound of dry ice/regular ice to give the fog an extra-cool boost, helping the fog stay low even longer.
Comes with built in wireless remote trigger, and DMX (3 or 5 pin) console control. Please contact our rentals department at rentals@bluehazeent.com for more information!
Fluid is not included with rental and is sold separately, available in-store or online by contacting sales@bluehazeent.com

network infrastructure devices from BHE!

4/1/2019

Every Lighting project requires some form of infrastructure connectivity to ensure communication between your console and your devices. We at Blue Haze know this as well as anyone! After years of putting together networks using both a combination of manufacturer gear as well as proprietary all-encompassing control solutions, we got tired of the high price-points and the constant troubleshooting of these disjointed devices on a shared network. So we created our own set of devices, creating a full network infrastructure solution: the Net-Node6, the DMX-R8, and the DMX-Split4. These products are designed to utilize a small form-factor, easily install via DIN-rail mount, and to provide a scalable solution to lighting projects of any size, while maintaining a price-point below any other alternatives.

DMX-Split4

Picture

At the very least each lighting project needs a DMX Splitter. The DMX-Split4 has two sets of four DMX outputs: one set is provided as a terminal block mount, while the other set uses Cat5 connections to pass DMX, allowing you to chain devices together simply by adding Cat5 jumper cables, perfect for use in conjunction with the DMX-R8. The DMX In/Thru connectors offer the same choice, allowing multiple DMX-Split4s to be arranged in sequence with just a few Cat5 connections The DMX-Split4 also features IP40 construction and an auto-ranging power input: 90-250V AC.

DMX-R8

In many permanent applications, it is ideal to use a system of relays that are able to remotely turn section of power on or off, allowing you to power-down your entire rig at the end of the day without leaving the comfort of your console seat. For this purpose we designed the DMX-R8, an 8-channel DMX controlled relay switch. The DMX-R8 is addressable via dip-switch, at which point DMX is used to switch the 8 corresponding circuits by interrupting the circuit wired through the device.

Each relay can be wired to a circuit of up to 15 amps. DMX input can be provided via Cat5 directly from a DMX-Split4, or can be wired into the terminal block inputs for use with other DMX sources.

Net-Node6

Once your lighting installation surpasses one universe, or when you have fixtures further than 300' apart, it becomes important to take advantage of the lighting network capabilities of Art-Net or sACN. It is for this reason that we created the Net-Node6. This node is capable of communicating in either ArtNet or sACN protocol, and is able to produce 6 DMX outputs (via terminal block) from a single Cat5 input. On the back end, the device can be configured through network management to dictate which universes get pushed to each output.

Due to the Din-Rail mount on all of these devices, it is very easy to construct network or electrical boxes that have the functionality of Relays, DMX Splitters, and Network Nodes, allowing you to scale your infrastructure to any size project for significantly cheaper than other methods. We have used hundreds of these devices in arrangements similar to the above for Kings Dominion Winterfest 2018, as well as for other infrastructure projects within our showrooms. Please contact us if you have any questions about these devices or are interested in purchasing them for yourself!

Kings Dominion Winterfest (Nov/Dec 2018)

1/7/2019

Picture
Throughout 2018, our team worked tirelessly to design, manufacture, install, and program a massive winter event at Kings Dominion theme park in Virginia. In 2016 we helped create our first Winterfest at Great America (CA), followed by more Winterfests the following year at Worlds of Fun (MO), Kings Island (OH), and Carowinds (NC/SC). We made it our priority to improve on the artistic designs and the products we used every year, and Winterfest 2018 was no exception. The systems design team, led by director James Sidler, did an incredible job this past winter season, bringing the holidays to life for hundreds of thousands of guests by using custom tailored products throughout 14 uniquely themed park zones.

Due to the large scale of the project, programming utilized several different controllers to maximize the potential of each product. Overall control for the entire project was handled via Avolites Titan over a total of 5 TitanNet Processors. Both Avolites AI and Madrix were used to map and create thousands of effects throughout the park with both controllers taking go commands from the TitanNet system. Avolites AI controlled a whole zone of pixel mapped trees and various decorations, while Madrix provided direct pixel control  for a 40' Christmas Tree in that zone, as well as the massive "crystal ball" installation. In this image, you can see this massive Christmas tree through the lively decorations of Planet Snoopy, featuring large colorful bulbs throughout the foliage.
Our Systems Design team designed a series of 48 strands to be mounted to the iconic Eiffel Tower at Kings Dominion, creating an almost 300 foot tall Christmas tree, topped by pixel-controlled stars.

Picture
This tree contained over 12,500 RGB “crystal balls”, each about the size of a grapefruit, which, combined with the four giant stars on top, provided over 15,500 pixels of control. Each ball creates an even 360 degree glow of color from all sides, with steel cables keeping the entire strand in position without blocking any light output. This created an amazing canvas for Madrix to create a variety of spectacular effects that could be viewed from literally any angle!

At the front entrance of the park, we also programmed a 70' tall Christmas Tree that provided control for the red, blue, warm white and cool white twinkle strands on each of its branches. This tree, with its 3D star topper, ran chase sequences through the hundreds of branches, creating spiraling and twinkling effects that were especially vibrant during the nightly tree lighting ceremony. This 70' tree can be seen in the foreground of the Eiffel tower here.

One zone, Candy Apple Grove, was covered by over 80,000 pixels, which spread up every tree in varied lengths, as well as lit color-morphing wreaths, Christmas presents, and color-chasing arches. This multitude of pixels was controlled by Avolites AI. Almost all of the products in this zone were specially designed and manufactured for this project to create the most incredible, bright,  and colorful holiday atmosphere.

For the lovers of Christmas carols or a more traditional look, we also manufactured 88 wireframes for the Twelve Days of Christmas! These wireframes were up to 7 feet tall and covered in colorful rope light, lining the popular Blue Ridge Tollway at the park, inviting guests to drive in a scenic sing-along!
